River’s Edge Hospital recognized for superior outcomes in Joint Replacement, according to Healthgrades

 St. Peter, MN (January 17, 2023) – River’s Edge Hospital ranks #5 in Minnesota for Joint Replacement according to a new analysis released by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. To determine this year’s State Ranking recipients, Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide focusing on 18 key specialties across a mix of chronic, urgent, and surgical specialty areas. River’s Edge Hospital, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, was the only hospital in the Mankato Area to be ranked for Joint Replacement and is the only hospital in the Mankato Area to achieve the Joint Replacement Excellence Award in 2023.

Hospitals recognized as among the top 5 in their state by Healthgrades are providing patients with consistently better-than expected clinical outcomes. For example, patients treated at hospitals receiving a state ranking for Joint Replacement have, on average, a 62.5% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that were not ranked for Joint Replacement.*

River’s Edge Hospital and The Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic created OrthoEdge, a total joint replacement program, in 2014.  Since that time, River’s Edge Hospital has become a DNV-GL Orthopedic Center of Excellence, achieving program excellence for hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgeries as well as spine surgeries.  River’s Edge is also recognized nationally as a leader in patient experience.
