River’s Edge Hospital employees recognized for exceptional care

SAINT PETER, MN— Kristin Dahl, RN and Deb Mattson, Physical Therapist of River’s Edge Hospital were recently honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses and the BEE Award for Exceptional Care. The DAISY Award® is part of the DAISY Foundation’s programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day and the BEE Award recognizes the exceptional care the employees for those same super-human efforts.

Both Dahl and Mattson were nominated by their patients who said that they show caring and compassion in their profession.

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes.  Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease.  The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.

Said Chief Executive Officer Paula Meskan, “The Daisy and BEE awards are another avenue to recognize the exceptional work done by the individuals at River’s Edge.  This year’s recipients, Deb and Kristen, were both nominated by patients that utilize our services.  That’s a true testament to their care!  It was a pleasure to be a witness to the announcement of the award winners.  I congratulate both of these women and all of the other men and women that were nominated.  I’m so happy to have each of them on the team.
